Parts that ship to an FFL

A stripped lower receiver, a handgun frame or any other serialized part is the firearm in the eyes of federal law. Those ship to a licensed dealer like a complete gun, and the FAQ covers how that pickup works. Everything else on this page ships straight to you.

Doing the install yourself? Punches, wrenches and fixtures are in Gunsmithing Tools & Gunsmith Supplies. Brands here include Faxon Firearms, Hogue and MDT.

Gun Parts FAQ

Will AR-15 parts fit an AR-10?

Mostly no. The AR-10 is built around .308-size cartridges, so receivers, bolts, barrels and magazines are larger. AR-10 patterns also differ between makers, so check the listing's fitment before you order. Grips, triggers and many stocks are the main parts that cross over.

Mil-spec or commercial buffer tube?

Mil-spec tubes measure 1.148 inches across and commercial tubes measure 1.168 inches. Stocks are made for one or the other, so check which tube you have before you buy a stock in AR Braces/Stocks.

What is a free float handguard?

One that attaches to the barrel nut and never touches the barrel. Pressure from a sling, bipod or your hand no longer pushes on the barrel, which keeps shots more consistent. Shop AR Handguards.

Do I need a gunsmith to install parts?

Grips, stocks, charging handles and most drop-in triggers go in with basic tools and a careful afternoon. Barrels, bolts and anything that sets headspace are worth handing to a gunsmith.
