Ammunition

TL;DR: Factory loaded ammunition, sorted by the gun it feeds. Match the caliber stamped on your barrel or slide before you order. We do not ship ammunition to states that require a background check for ammo purchases.

Match the box to the barrel

The caliber is stamped on the barrel or slide, and that marking is the only one that counts. Close is not good enough. A rifle marked 5.56 NATO can fire .223 Remington, but a rifle marked only .223 Remington should not be fed 5.56. When in doubt, ask before you load it.

Ammunition FAQ

What does 20RD 10BX/CS mean in a listing?

20 rounds per box, 10 boxes per case. That shorthand comes straight from the distributor, so check the listing to see whether the price is for one box or the full case.

What is the difference between 5.56 and .223?

They share outside dimensions, but 5.56 NATO is loaded to higher pressure. A 5.56 chamber handles both. A chamber marked only .223 Remington should stick to .223.

What does grain mean on an ammo box?

Grain is the bullet's weight. There are 7,000 grains in a pound, so a 124 grain 9mm bullet weighs a little under a third of an ounce. Heavier bullets in the same caliber usually move slower and hit harder.

Rimfire or centerfire?

Rimfire rounds like .22 LR have the primer in the rim of the case. They are cheap and quiet and cannot be reloaded. Centerfire rounds have a primer in the center of the case head and cover almost everything else. Shop Rimfire Ammunition.

How old do I have to be to buy ammo?

Federal law sets 18 for rifle and shotgun ammunition and 21 for handgun ammunition from a licensed dealer. Some states set higher limits, and the stricter rule always wins.
