Cleaning Rods, Brushes & Jags

TL;DR: The parts that do the real scrubbing. The rod pushes, the brush loosens fouling and the jag drives a patch tight against the bore. Match the thread on the rod to the thread on the tip.

Cleaning Rod FAQ

Bronze or nylon brush?

Bronze scrubs harder and suits regular bore cleaning. Nylon is gentler and works on actions, slides and finishes. Keep steel brushes out of the bore.

Do I need a one-piece rod?

Not for every gun, but a one-piece rod has no joints to flex or rub the bore, which is why precision rifle shooters favor them. Multi-piece rods pack smaller for travel.
