Pick a barrel length
| Barrel | What you get |
|---|---|
| 7.5 inch | The shortest and handiest, with the most muzzle blast and the biggest velocity loss in 5.56 |
| 10.5 inch | The usual middle ground for 5.56: compact, with noticeably more velocity than 7.5 |
| 11.5 to 12.5 inch | More velocity again, in a gun that is getting close to carbine length |

5.56 AR Pistol FAQ
What does 223 Wylde mean?
It is a chamber cut between the .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO specs. It fires both safely and tends to shoot .223 match ammo a little more accurately than a plain 5.56 chamber.
Is 5.56 a good fit for a very short barrel?
It works, but 5.56 gives up a lot of velocity and gets loud below about 10 inches. If you want a 7.5 inch gun or plan to shoot suppressed, look at 300 Blackout AR pistols too.
