5.56 AR Pistols

TL;DR: AR pistols chambered in 5.56 NATO or 223 Wylde, the most common AR pistol setup and the cheapest to feed. They run standard AR-15 magazines, so the mags you already own will work.

5.56 AR Pistol FAQ

What does 223 Wylde mean?

It is a chamber cut between the .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO specs. It fires both safely and tends to shoot .223 match ammo a little more accurately than a plain 5.56 chamber.

Is 5.56 a good fit for a very short barrel?

It works, but 5.56 gives up a lot of velocity and gets loud below about 10 inches. If you want a 7.5 inch gun or plan to shoot suppressed, look at 300 Blackout AR pistols too.
