Double Action Revolvers

TL;DR: Revolvers that fire with a long, smooth trigger pull, no cocking needed. Most can also be cocked first for a light single action pull, and double action only models have a hidden or bobbed hammer for snag-free carry.

Double Action Revolver FAQ

Is a double action revolver good for home defense?

It is simple to run under stress: point and pull the trigger, with no safety or slide to work. The tradeoff is fewer rounds and slower reloads than a semi auto.

How heavy is a double action trigger pull?

Usually somewhere around 8 to 12 pounds, spread over a long, smooth stroke. Single action pulls on the same gun are far lighter.
