Match the can to the host
1/2x28 is the most common 9mm thread on US pistols. Some imported pistols use metric threads such as M13.5x1 left hand, which needs a piston cut for it.
| Host | What the can needs |
|---|---|
| Tilting barrel pistol (most Glock, Sig, S&W and CZ pistols) | A piston, also called a booster, in your barrel's thread pitch. |
| Fixed barrel pistol | A fixed spacer or direct thread mount. |
| Pistol caliber carbine or AR-9 | A fixed spacer or direct thread mount, usually 1/2x28. |
Mounts, pistons and covers are in Suppressor Parts.

9mm Suppressors FAQ
Will a 9mm suppressor fit my Glock?
If the barrel is threaded. Most factory Glock barrels are not, so most owners add a threaded barrel and a piston that matches its thread. See Threaded Barrel Pistols.
What 9mm ammo runs quietest?
147 grain loads are subsonic out of most pistols. Many 115 grain loads are supersonic, especially from a carbine barrel, and you will hear the crack.
Can a 9mm can run 45 ACP?
No. The bore is too small. It works the other way: many 45 ACP cans run 9mm with the right piston. See 45 ACP & 10mm Suppressors.
