OEM or aftermarket

A factory magazine from the gun's maker is the safe bet for a carry or defense gun. Aftermarket mags cost less, come in higher capacities and odd sizes, and are fine for the range once you have run a few hundred rounds through them without a hiccup. Number your mags, and if one keeps causing stoppages, retire it.

Brands here include Glock, Elite Tactical Systems Group, Mec-Gar and ProMag. Need something to carry them in? Holsters & Gun Leather has pouches, and Handgun Ammunition has the rounds to fill them.

Magazines FAQ

Is it a clip or a magazine?

A magazine has a spring and feeds rounds into the gun. A clip holds rounds together so you can load them into a magazine, like the stripper clips for an SKS or the en bloc clip for an M1 Garand. Almost everything people call a clip is a magazine.

Will a Glock 17 magazine work in a Glock 19?

Yes. A longer magazine from the same caliber family works in a shorter frame and sticks out past the grip. The reverse does not work, so a Glock 19 magazine will not fully feed a Glock 17.

Are high capacity magazines legal in my state?

Several states and some cities cap capacity, often at 10 or 15 rounds. Check your state and local law before you order. You are responsible for what you can legally own where you live.

What are magazine accessories?

Speed loaders that save your thumbs, extended base pads that add a few rounds, dust covers and pouches. Shop Magazine Accessories.
